his portrayal of Shun is so much better, being on the same level as his companions in every canon saga. Shun being a jobber once again + Ikki being really out of character not giving a shit to him resumes really well what Toei thinks about the character, and this is one of the few points I concede to Kurumada.
#SAINT SEIYA ZEUS MOVIE#
Being the last movie released for years, the formula was already pretty old. The gold saints being killed like thugs and most of the fights are pretty lame. The animation is subpar comparing with the other movies, as the character designs. Hyoga having an romantic interest was also something fresh.ĥ- Lucifer. I kinda like the ghost saints designs, specially Orion Jagger. The first special, and also where the formula began. The gold saints were mostly underused, specially Kamus and Shura, but Saga stole the show.Ĥ- Goddess Eris. It is technically astounding with an effective morally ambiguous enemy.
I saw that at the movies, in the middle of the Saint Seiya craze in Brazil, during the mid 90s. The movie is gorgeous and they tried to accomplish something different from the usual formula.ģ- Legend of the Crimson Youth. Really creeped me out as a kid by how bleak and moody it is.Ģ- Tenkai hen. Guy knows his shit really wellġ- Asgard Movie. Video is in Spanish, but this guy is like a Saint Seiya Scholar. You can watch all the retrospective of the production of the movie here. We know that after that kurumada was so pissed that he made his own adaptation of the tenkai hen (Next Dimension manga)
That was big in Japan because both of them made Saint Seiya Hades: Chapter Sanctuary) After the massive failure of the movie, both director (Yamauchi) and screenwritter (Yokote) left Toei (there were never an official statement if both were fired or they resign. After that, in his personal blog (now i think is gone) he wrote a letter to all saint seiya fans expressing his frustration how the movie turned out being. When the first movie (the only one in the end) were premiered in Japan, Kurumada was absolutely pissed and leave the theatre. Kurumada was aware of some of the shit Toei was bringing (not at that extent) and fought hard to keep some of the original ideas (included the amazing ending theme, because Toei wanted to hire a famous idol to make an entirely different ending song) Toei took the scripts and made brutal changes to the plot of the first movie without telling Kurumada All of 3 were written and finished (Tenkai Hen Hoso (the one we saw) - Tenkai Hen Honsho - Tentei Hen) Tenkai hen is really an interesting piece of history for Saint Seiya Fans.
